Any ideas on how that carb set up combated the difference in spacing between the inlet on the head and the carbs?
I'm just looking at doing the conversion myself and the inner to match quite well but the outer 2 are out by about 12mm or so..I'm thinking space the carbs out a bit but theres some funky linkages and stuff on them.

The face of the inlet mani that mounts to the head should have the ports spaced to match the head, and by angling the 2 outer runners 'inward' slightly you can make up the 12mm difference - or if you want you're runners at 90degrees to the front of the head then you could split the carbs and space them further apart but would then have the issue of the linkages, the vac lines, fuel lines etc all beiung that little bit too short..

In terms of cost... The project in total owes me somewhere near £2000 at present and I still have about another £500 to go.
I've seen engine conversion specialists offering to convert to G60 or VR6 for around £2000. Would that not make more sense than putting all that time and effort in yourself, not doing as proffessional a job and still paying out the same money? I'm considering an engine conversion myself and can't see the benefits of a DIY job. Anyone got any advice?
Fair point but would they have done a rear disc conversion, 280mm fronts, coilovers, resprayed my bay, side exit exhaust, polycarb windows etc.
The engine conversion has cost me about 4-500, thats rebuilding completely and tarting her up a little.
2k might be a vr/g60 but that is it without uprating the running geat etc to suit...

forgot to add that includes my respray also... I think I am doing ok for the money I have spent in all fairness then...
