I've watched all the videos - it looks like a decent, solid base for a reasonably easy project - most of which will involve recommissioning it from a long time in storage.

I'd still recommend buying it, as long as a project is what you want.

Now, thats the lot. The lady is the second owner, she bought it with 40000 on the clock and its only done 60000. it has had a respray but i'm unsure as to when exactly that was. the front passenger wheel arch rust wise is in the best condition, the drivers is the next worse as there is a rust patch just to the point where the sill meets the front wing, its about the size of a 10p and a 20p next to each other. the sills and jacking points all look good. the rear wheel arches are in the worst condition by a long way. there are dinks on the doors where they have been opened in to objects and obvious scuff marks from things like shopping trollys. there are also minute bubbles under the paint on the lower portions of the doors.

Ideally, yes.

Ummmm I suppose the cost of that would need investigation. A decent body shop should be able to remove windows, correct rusty areas and respray. I'll make some enquiries.

I'd estimate a good bodyshop would charge you £2000 - £3000 for that kind of job.

The car doesn't need a respray at the moment, and I doubt any of that rust would affect its chances of passing an MoT - which is going to need the mechanical stuff to be resurrected more than anything else.

You could probably think about a respray in 2-3 years' time, if you had run the car for a bit and liked it enough. There probably isn't a single mk2 Scirocco that you could pay for someone else to respray properly and think about making your money back if you sold the car. You'd have to have it done because you wanted to keep the car yourself.
