The amount of new parts that have been required for this car is massive, however some of the original items were perfectly serviceable once they had been appropriately refurbished. Some of those parts media blasted:
And refurbished.
As a typical example of the new parts, here is the new tank painted and fitted with new lift pump and pipes ready to go on.
And the beam with refurbished backplates, stub axle and ARB and all new bushes and brakes.
Brand new headliner
Engine and box reunited with new clutch, coolant pipes, vac pipes, senders etc (yes those bits of surface rust were dealt with later!)
The electrics were installed prior to the engine. A new fusebox and all relays were needed to make the car functional. Big thanks to electric whizz GTMatt for your help with the sparky bits buddy.
And in with fluids and kjet system. It runs!
This pic shows bodykit is fitted and interior going in.
And the sunroof, vinyls and glass fitted. The windscreen is brand new (thanks for the tip-off, Nate) and almost all of the seals are also brand new from VW.

I would like a set of the correct black stripe rear lamps for this car but an excellent or new set is proving elusive so far, so a very very good set of standard lamps have been fitted for now rather than a tatty set of stripe lamps.
Managed to save the original carpets (!) and the seats, very pleased about that as I did think that the upholstery was a gonner, but its amazing what can be revived. Kim and Aggie saved my bacon. Still require a bit more work, but getting there.
And the door furniture
MOT not far off, the list of jobs is getting smaller.
