if it was an internal blockage within the oilways (unless the sump was full of crap and silt it is unlikly to be an internal blockage) the pressure would be lower not higher & if there was an internal oil leak from the headgasket or cracked oil way within the head or block the pressure would be lower.the output for the sender on the head is situated at the end of the oil run before it runs back in to the sump.the only issue must be the gauge its self,although i would doubt this......when i fitted a pressure guage i bought a cappilary feed rather than a electronic sender unit type as i knew it was measuring the pressure from the oil flow directly....these guages are harder to find but this is the route i would take.

Hi Ben,if you say a blockage in an oilway would cause the pressure to drop rather than rise then at least youv'e put my mind at ease.I gues it must be gauge or sender,will have another look this weekend.

Just on with refurbing fuel filler pipe at moment (caught it just before rot set in).
Five coats of hammerite so far.
