Cheers guys :good:

I thought i best remove the old engine ready for the new one coming. That way i can sell all the 8V goodies off to more than fund the small block conversion.... maybe even enough to turbo it! :focus:

As it sits with no engine and its winter slippers. (still can't get the jack under it lol)

Im waiting in at home today for the new engine to be delivered.

Cheers dudes! :vcool:

Im putting a 1.3 Mk1 Golf Driver engine with a weber carb and back to 4 speed, purely for ground clearance. The turbo will have to wait till next year now as ive just bought a new daily.

Some pictures up soon but its all rather boring stuff. Im just plodding on making the engine pretty before i put it in. :vcool:

Before. (after a light cleaning)

So far.

PS.. My front wings are starting to bubble with rust. :ire:

As well as bailing on projects I also change my mind alot as the project develops

The 1.3 driver engine I had cleaned and detailed for the rocco has now been donated to my mates Mk1 Jetta as another friend was selling an engine that I couldn't turn down..

Its a polo G40 engine with a turbo conversion... It is looking abit scruffy and missing a few bits but i just want to get it in and running then it will be removed, cleaned and fitted with a r5 GT turbo carb....

Few updates...

Im missing the G40 ECU from the setup and few other bits.. So rather than spending the money on buying parts to get it running short term ive been looking at other ignition solutions so I can run it on the 5 GT turbo carb. The options are listed below..

1. 5 GT Turbo renix ignition
2. Early Saab 900 Turbo dizzy that advances on vacuum but also retards on boost
3. Megajolt standlone ignition ECU

After reading up on Kjet turbos on VWVortex I found out I can use an early VW Rabbit dizzy vacuum canister and this will also retard the ignition on boost.. I manged to sorce a NOS canister from a very friendly chap on Vortex.. So I intend to fit this to a mk2 Golf 1.3 dizzy.. wish me luck lol

My mate welded my engine mount in for me in its new location so it would be rude not trial fit the engine.. It all very tight at the front end and on the bonnet but lots of ground clearance :vcool:

After many hours of grinding and sanding I'd had enough! I wasn't 100% happy with the way the notches blended in but thought they look ok for a first try.. I will get them perfect next year when the full car gets painted.
