Do you mean me? These ones, if that's the case:

I could try to have a play with the colours as the lighting there made the paint appear rather orange.

Long overdue update needed here.

New boots at the close of the Summer 2009, just in time for the London Volksfest Show and then an appearance at the NEC during December 2009 with the quad lamps back in with amber indicators.

Image

Compomotive TH with 195/45/15 tyres.

Then a hibernation over winter where other projects took over such as the Mk1 Storm, Emma's GLS and 'XTRA's mk1 GTI.

So I get the car prepped during February 2010 for Ultimate Dubs and the gearbox finally played silly buggers with me. There was a suspicion that it was on the way out as 5th was getting increasingly hard to find, despite adjustments to the linkage. So out it came and a good replacment that i had in stock went in.

I also took the opportunity here to downsize the exhaust to a Jetex mild steel 2". The 2.5" was just too loud for me, I must be getting old. So the downpipe was replaced with a brand new stock mk1 GTI item and the 2" exhaust ordered from C&R and duly fitted. Much quieter and I think a nicer exhaust note.
Glad to report that all is well and with the replacement box and new exhaust I fell back in love with the car.

Ultimate Dubs 2010 rolls around in early March, and this happens:
Image

The mk1 Rocco curse of UD struck, and it was mine and Emma's turn. :shocking: Once again, a huge thanks to all who made sure that we were ok and asked after us, we really were and remain very grateful :beers: Needless to say, despite that, we had a great time anyway and i went home with the car on a flatbed truck while Em went in style in Tony's GL. :hi:

The glass was a real pain to get rid of from inside the car and i ended stripping down everything to get rid of the stuff. If anybody would like to restore the screen I have all the parts you need
Image
But i've lost the instructions, sorry.

I looked around and managed to get a brand new screen after trying lots of different companies. I took the liberty of ordering trimless seals to go with my deleted brightwork look and am happy with them, though they took a bit of getting used to, i'm so used to seeing a strip in the middle!

The new genuine seals that were on the car will be saved for the GLS now.

And finally after pontificating about it for ages i finally hit the books and deciphered the wiring diagrams to restore the original dash and clocks back to the car. I had never really been happy with the Mk1 Golf dash, kind of always veiwing it as a necessary evil because of the mk2 looms, so i got busy with the soldering iron over the Easter break and retrofitted the early clocks and switches to the mk2 loom.

Image

And refitted the dash.

Everything needs a damn good clean now.

glad you got the screen sorted, and you were both okay, it would have been too easy to have lost it at motorway speeds with that happening!! New dash is looking class!
