Took delivery of all this today, wasn't going for 100% perfect job as its all hidden, just to fill in the hole and paint it up, wasn't 100% happy with the colour match seems too bright will see if the lacquer makes it look any better tomorrow.

Fuel tank is off to be acid dipped tomorrow to reveal the extent of the rust, get it cut out welded, re sealed and painted..

Looks similar to Bilt Hamber's Hydrate 80, which is good stuff, as are their other products.

Progress is slow recently, struggling to get exhaust off and waiting for tank to be finished before I can get the rear end all bolted together.. Rust on arches will be next year now..

So last night nipped into garage to pop in came out 3 hours later with all front end stripped.

As always all bolts and light surround panels will be "yellow/gold" zinc plated..

Will continue with the clean tomorrow..

Does anyone know how to remove these light adjusters ? The bolts being corroded is making it hard to remove the caps.. Plus the OCD in me doesn't like the dirty look..

Progress is slow at the moment, got the fuel tank back from acid dipping, rust isn't as bad think it just needs trimming off and welding to keep it tight and smooth. Any recommendations on paint for the tank ? Don't forget the car will be sitting in a heated garage and really for show so I don't really want a ugly rough paint..

I think the factory ones are steel. Something that corrodes easily, anyway.

I can swerve the original theme for reliability and being sensible, so what do you recommend ?

Ok lots been going on recently but being the wallet watcher I am, me waiting for some more bits to come off the car before I send a batch off to be Zinc Plated is slowing the progress down but £20 is £20 and just for waiting a week or so is worth it..

So work has been done on the lights and tank, now not 100% happy with my work on the lights but hey ho live and learn..

I understand kunifer would be the best choice for brake pipes.

Thanks Edmundator, big set back with the tank it keeps on forming rust spots on the inside, so on the lookout for a new one :ire: :ire:

It kinda stops everything, as no point putting rear axle back on without the tank, so no rear axle means no work on the front of the car... Could be a few weeks no so ill give you some progress when i get it.
