GTI Headlights....Am I just......
Saw this listing on ebay for an '82 1.6 GTI and thought it was worth a phone call about the headlights.....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170907276475
Originally quoted £70( + P&P + VAT) but managed to chip him down to £60 + £8 P&P + Vat - total £81.60. Seeing as one of the units has a 1 inch crack/chip in the lens.....said I'd call back but can't see it happening.
The price was for the lights, fixing frames and the pieces that go between the lights and bumper.
Now am i being unreasonable considering one of the lenses is u/s or are they trying to have my pants down on these....
Any thoughts?

Re: GTI Headlights....Am I just......
Just to give you an idea of prices:
New
Frames with rear clamp and all clips ~£35 ea
Trim ~ £5 ea
Headlights ~ £30 ea (although they do turn up second hand for about £10-£15)
Second hand
Indicators ~ £5 ea
Total ~ £150 - £200
But the things that are really hard to get hold of? The front clamping bezel that stop the lights falling out, they don't come with the frames.
So if you can get them for £80, even with a chipped light, I would say that's a good deal as I can't recall them going for less than a hundred.
To be blunt, if you don't get them, there's a good chance that someone else will now that you've said how much they will go for.

Hear what your saying fellas and would have snapped their hand off but it was just with one of the lenses being damaged and then needing to find a replacement for it that made me have doubts. It was first thing this morning when i spoke to them and they said they'd had a few emails enquiring about them even then - unsurprisingly really - so i doubt they're still available anyway. Not to worry, would have been nice but not a necessity.

Erin is about ten minutes from me. I'm happy to grab them if that helps

I recall paying about £100 for mine, then with the help of Colin managed to order some new frames and lower plastics new which was around another £50 if i recall.
Seems like a good price that even with the lense
