Seems there has been some sort of breathing issue,an apparent leak turned out to be an oil soaked airbox duct/k&n filter. All cleaned up and, whilst down at the Phirm, had a bit of a tune up - fuel pressure tweek, co2 adjustment plus got the throttle pedal/cable adjusted 'just so' after the summer head rebuild.
Must confess - also had the airbox drilled. Even though my favourite A25/Surrey Hills route back was infested by every scooter psycho, white van muppet, honda jazz doing 28mph you can imagine I still had a real rorty blast back to the smoke.
Not the biggest change to report - a split rear seat came up courtesy of the mr funk monza strip down and after 20 years this GTX has a split rear seat again.
Needs some work tbh but for the moment it's perfect.
20 years since this won Rocco show and shine at GTI Inters 1993 (with sadly now RIP mate who owned it at the time) so some more tweeking (wheels??) and tidying beckon in advance of Inters 2013.

Been down at the Phirm for a while - the sooty exhaust and the the general lethargy (compared to the Mk1 in particular!) resulted in me committing to new piston rings.
Other issues uncovered - soft piston rings...some 'in line' with each other, huge gaps (cylinder no.2 gap 4x larger the 1,3 and 4 bizarrely).
Also whilst the plumbing is all being re-done too I've elected to remove the AC on this one - saves about 30kg.
So finally I will have a KR rocco that goes like a KR should - and without all that extra weight.
