rear disc conversion

i have a 88 scala but would like to put rear discs on it. has anyone done the conversion?
if so what bits do i need?
would golf mk2 rear discs fit?

Why would you like to put rear discs on? Unless it's for the cosmetics of things through your alloy wheels, there's no point. To improve braking performance, you're better off concentrating on the fronts with either a 256mm or 280mm disc conversion.

If you desperately want rear discs, you can use mk2 or mk3 Golf rear items - there might even be a guide in the FAQ on this site (see link in the red box at the top of the page).

Got to be honest, totally agree with Ed. Driven cars with both and the current car has updated fronts and standard rears and I much prefer it.

Don't let that put you off though. It does look nice.

mainly looking for cosmetics as im thinking of getting a willwood or hi-spec front brake kit, and it will look a bit pants with ugly drums on the back.

Hi spec stuff is great value and works as well as anything used this kit a few times and plan to run on my rocco next year :)

I have Wilwood and they are chuffing awesome.

not sure how to post links but if you go on www.hispec.co.uk you should find them, i contacted them and they said that the kits for the mk2 golf fit rocco's think they were around £650 for annodised callipers

dont go to that link its for light bulbs. just put hi-spec brakes into google.

I'd get a second opinion on that considering that Roccos mostly use Mk1 kit.

are these just for better front brakes though? im already running 280 g60's up front which feel good, but you got to work for the brake! im now leaning towards just fitting a set of rear discs and a pedal box with a proper master cylinder to remove the need for the brake linkage bar in the bay on the rocco which is what i think is causing them to feel bad. must be a lot of energy wasted in that linkage.

The 256's on my mk2 golf however are insanely sharp, really nice. Theres no linkage here though and she runs rear discs too mind.
