how do i stick mk1 trim back on??

Post by malmac »

Hi,

how do i stick or what can i use to stick those plastic/rubber trims back on the sides of my mk1 scirocco after it's been resprayed??

They're the ones that run along the bottom third of each side, i've noticed that many decide not to re-fit them, but i think they make the car look more original.

thanks in advance......

Granted I'm seriously fussy!

And seriously no disrespect to Bill intended, I obtained the replacement trim as mentioned that Bill had sourced.

I was not that impressed with it. The original as you know comes in straight pieces, the replacement on a roll, and hence causes the 'chrome' inlay part to wrinkle and crease. It is also slightly smaller in dimensions to the original.

Mal if you PM me your addy I'll send you my roll that I won't be using and you can make your own mind up..

Hi Jimmy,

Don't worry, think i know where you're coming from and i wouldn't use it either.

I've still got the original trim, just don't know what to use to re-attach it ?

Mal - DST (double sided tape) that's what originally held it on!

Type 'Automotive Double Sided Tape' into your ebay search, again on a roll, you'll need something like 20mm wide 3M is a good brand ;)
