Different size fron ball joints

Post by farley381 »

I need to replace the wishbones on my GTX, as the last MOT (before I bought it) failed both of them for 'severe corosion'.

So, I bought a pair of these off eBay complete with new bushes & a balljoints

But since purchasing, I've read (somewhere) that the balljoints can be two sizes ??

What size is it going to be on an 87 GTX?
Were they all the same on the Mk1/2 (as I thought) & if so what size?

Help !

P.S. Yes I know, I should have poly-bushed it & the bushes in these kits aren't great - but, initially, I just wanted to get it back on the road fairly cheaply.

All Scirocco are 17mm - it's only the later mk2 Golf that had 19mm.
