Dont know if the two have anything in common but have recently (about 2 weeks) had a buzzing/vibration sound from under the driver's footwell side of engine bay.
Sounds like the timing blt cover could be loose and only happens at certain revs, stops if i come of the accelarator and coast in gear.
Also have what sounds like one tappet slapping from cold and lasts about 5-10 mins before warming up then it goes quiet.
Then yesterday after a bit of over zealous driving the oil light flashed and a buzzer sound came on. I again coasted out of gear for about 200 yards then put back in gear and the light/buzzer stopped.
Checked the oil this morning and all ok. So am wondering if the oil pump is not working to its best.
Anyone had anything similar or throw any light on this?

oil light and buzzer mean you have an oil pressure problem. if you keep driving, it's usually followed by engine failure. for starters, how long is it since it had an oil change?

As above ^^^^^^^^^^ that was the symptoms I had when heading south last year.
RAC man advised "head for home SLOWLY" infact "VERY SLOWLY".
Here is how I had to fix it http://sciroccoregisterforum.co.uk/carf ... ght#p74939
Every thing has been OK since then.

Nate, had the car serviced end of last year, prob done about 2000 miles since service/oil/filter change. Going to do an oil/filter change this weekend coincidentally.
OMR, thanks for that link sounds kind of what i was thinking. Not the gauze but an oil pump issue of some description. Sounds like a fun job but will do it this weekend along with the oil/filter.
