any damage to the side panels? money isn't gonna let me buy/build a chassis tilter, but i'd be worried about damaging it

No, we were very careful as this was the main concern but I couldn't afford to do it any other way and lying underneath is not pleasant
we used really thick upholstery foam to lay it on and it caused no issues to the panels.
It was more daunting thinking about it than doing it once we started turning it over it worked out much better than we anticipated.

Aaahh the old MK1 corrosion problem...
I have been stripping back the 32 yr old underseal on the 81 ( build Sept 1980) rocco I shipped in from California.

Can say even all the RHD cars I have here I have never seen the top of the inner wing looking this good !!

Pity about the join line at the back where it meets the scuttle

Which is pretty well the primary reason to remove the wings, treat the underside which includes a good coat of topcoat along that join line then refitting .
This led me to these guy's..
http://www.rust.co.uk/
With the intention of purchasing something to neutralize the corrosion that is internal to the welded joints. ( waxoil wont halt the rusting thats already commenced )
These guy's have a good write up, well worth the read..

Best thing is the 2 pac products are isocyanate free.

The two holes next to the rear mount must let crud into the cavity. Would it be an idea to block these? Or are they also essential drainage?
So many plans, so little time
