which gearbox question
can anybody please help? i m fitting a mk2 1.8 8v engine in to my mk1 gls 1.6 carb as the engine is broke, i have two gearboxs to choose from, a 5 speed box from a mk1 or a 5 speed box from the 1.8 8v mk2, but which one should i fit?

Id say use the mk2 1.8 8v one but it all depends on the codes.
Question is have you got all the gear linkage set up you need, theres a difference on 4 & 5 speed..
