Hi, does anyone know of any differences between brake servos fitted to mk2s?
My '83 1.8 GTI needs a new servo and the part is unobtainable new (the garage has checked with VW, Heritage and ATE), so it will need to be replaced with a second hand item. The garage thinks that there is a difference between servos on early and later mk2s. Is this correct and would there be any difficulty fitting a later one e.g. from a GTX.
I think I have a standard spare lying around, which I hope will be ok.

Re: Brake servo mk2
hi ed,
if memory serves correctly the earlier servo was a smaller diameter but that was about the only difference, some one on here did a thread on it but i cant seem to be able to find it.
in this case most people would fit the 16valve servo and master cylinder for better braking but its hard to do this and keep the car looking origenal under the bonnet.
