If you want to save the hassle of welding in a clutch repair plate you can make an L shaped one that you can bolt in and will brace against the scuttle panel above, if that makes sense.

Im having issues with mine that I think are pressure related so I'm getting a pressure tester made up, where abouts are you based?

If you want to confirm if it is pressure related then next time you go to start it when it would usually play up bridge the fuel pump relay an let it run for a few minutes to prime the system, that way if it starts alright after this you will know it is a pressure loss issue.

The likley cuprits for pressure loss are injectors, cold start injector, one way valve in pump and fuel return plunger.

You can easily check the injectors and cold start as mentioned previously. In order to test the other two you will need a pressure gauge. Once hooked up pressurise the system then switch off, by clamping the return and feed pipes one at a time you will be able to see if that stops the pressure loss.

Good luck

Just a quick update on the tricky starting- iI have carried out the injector test and found no 3&4 leaking very slightly, litteraly just dripping one or two drops every ten mins or so. I have changed these for some second hand ones. On starting the car today exactly the same problem! :ire:
Im now getting desperate and running out of time, as im taking the car to coupe fest on the 2&3 of june with the intention of selling it unfortunately! I still have to get this issue sorted as im asking a faire amount for it and want it right for the next owner. Again once started it runs like a dream.
The only thing i noticed but don't think i mentioned before was while cracking the engine the lift pump does,t seem very audable and only seems to buzz away properly when the engine runs? This means it working obviously but surely it should be buzzing away whilst cranking? Does anyone know how the feed to this is triggered?
feel free to throw some more ideas my way, as the advice last time was very helpful.

Thanks all. Matt

I noticed recently that the owners manual says you should always start injection cars with some throttle whether hot or cold. And this has helped with mine.

Don't know about the lift pumps as the earlier injections didn't have one fitted so I am without.

There isn't really much else you can check with the Kjet system without a pressure tester. My guess would be its pressure loss either back into the tank or possible a very small crack in a pipe that's allowing air in maybe ( I know this is possible with diesels and no diesel escapes to make it obvious).

Try this...

I had similar issues with starting on my Scala. Always seemed to be over fuelled until it was warmed up. I disconnected the electrical connector to the 5th injector. Cured! No matter what the weather, it still starts and there's no noticeable change in acceleration.

I've either got a duff 5th injector or the main injectors leak a bit and the extra fuel from 5th takes it over the edge.

If you've ruled out leaky injectors, it could well be the accumulator losing pressure. Lift pumps are fairly quiet - just a gentle whirring sound.

Ideally you need to get the fuel pressure checked to see how quickly it drops away when the engine is off.

Try unplugging the cold start though - can't hurt.
