Question mk1 rocco door

Post by monzajake »

Hey guys.

What is the usall (if there is one ) asking price on a mk1 drivers door, Rust free, dent free, and original vw part.
Only asking as i know of a chap where i have my lock up who own's two.
One is a storm with a bbs body kit, and the other is a 1.6 carb with a full length sunroof (rebasto ?). Anyways the story is he's had the cars for years and was going to restore them, but they are now to far gone he says (never i say) and is in the process of stripping them both and on look for a good shell. So ive pointed him here to the cars for sale section.
But he's asked me what sort of money the doors go for ? As he needs on for the storm !.. Dont have a clue myself so i thought id ask you chaps to give him an idea...
But arnt they as rere as rocking horse poo poo tho ? Or can they be found and broght in from across the pond/s
Oh the storms a 1980 wrap around indies if that makes a differance tho..
Cheers fella's

:good:

I paid about £50 a piece for a pair of decent doors for my car earlier this year. I thought that was about right at the time.

agreed a good solid 2nd hand door would be worth a good solid 50 quid, however if one was on ebay it would prolly only make around 20!

I recentley sold a NOS door for 250 quid.

No not at all i beleave if you want some thing, then the price dont matter.
But hell 250 quid,i guess perfection is perfection eh...

Anyway's he looking at double numbers if he can find a oem door then.
I bet he has a heart attack when i tell, later on today.

Why are Scirocco owners such tightwads!! I mean, £250 for a new door in 2009, when it would have been probably £400 in 1980 from VW. I say bargain.

I was very happy with the purchase thank you 81 gti. No point in haggling over a price for unobtainium. Car is currently being restored at the moment.

By the way I am by no means loaded with cash but parts for these cars have all but dried up. I can't see them getting any cheaper soon either.
