I just had fitted standard VW vented disks and Pagid pads and it cost me nearly 3 times that !
Mind you I reckon it is worth spending, esp on the pads as they certainly ain't all the same !
I am pleased with the new front brakes though, even though they are standard kit not the bigger ones I was going to get. (long story)
i think personally i'd prefer to go for a known brand (pagid, ferrodo etc, but not ebc - heard way too many bad reports) than either an unknown or a budget brand
Thanks guys
Yeah i defiantly like knowing the brand. This just looked like a nice set and from the seller info, they seem pretty well recommended.
Where would you guys go for a set of vented discs and pads?
Links would be cool, don’t mind if it’s not Ebay.

I'd agree, VWII's are cheap for discs and pads. If you can find a 25% discount code online Pagids add up to £42 from Europarts.
"I'd get it one peice at a time and it wouldn't cost me a dime
You'll know it's me when I come through your town"
iirc, when I DIY'd the front brakes on the now gone GTX we owned, I got a pleasant surprise at the main dealer price (genuine VW items of course) = I bought mine from there.
The Pagid pads are available from GSF, Euro Car Parts, I think even Halfrauds - normal price = around £20
p.s. = If replacing disks on a car that originally had non vented disks, make sure you buy the pads from a vented disk car (as per the ones in the link I provided above) as the vented type pads are thinner to allow for the thicker vented disks. Non vented style pads are too thick to fit.

Good spot Ian.
I tend not to go for no-name brands when it comes to brakes. I bought some pads years ago for my Capri and ended up binning them and replacing with some better known ones. I recently upgraded the brakes on the A6 and called my local motor factors. They had sets of discs for a very reasonable price. The make; Brakewell....ermm no thanks, got Mintex instead.

Thanks Ian...this is what i came back to read actually. I've been tied up with so much recently i still haven't had chance to do this.
Wheni called GSF the guy asked me about the size, i really didn't know...but as mine is just the standard, not 16v i'll look at getting the 239mm pair.
