Door card fastening (top)

Post by ghost123uk »

Hi all :)

Our 92 GTII has electric windows that don't work well. They are sluggish and don't go up "straight".

I stripped it down to lube everything and adjust the rails = only partly successful

However when it came to putting the door cards back on, the little clips along the top don't seem to line up with anything that they can mate up to. It was the same before I took it to bits. This results in the door card having a gap at the top, obviously not right.

I was wondering what is going on here ?

Is there a bit of trim that would fasten to the door frame missing or perhaps there is more than one design of door card and ours were retro fitted from a different car ?

Hate electric windows...

Yeh I know, but then I would have to go out and take it to bits again to photograph it ;)

Just thought it might be on of those "Oh yes there are two types" answers ;)

The top of the door card clips to the inner scraper seal.

Umm, not on this car they don't - the clips angle and placing are not correct for them to mate up.
Mind you, I have not compared them to my (manual window) GTS yet

Good excuse though = I am pretty well "laid up" at the moment getting over a Hip Replacement operation (7 days ago) so all this is just academic until I am strong enough again to "go out and play" (another month or so )

This is what mine looks like on the leather door cards that I am going to fit.

Cheers for the pic, that looks like mine.
I will have to wait till I can move around properly to check where it is supposed to clip onto by checking against our GTS ones.

Cheers matey, a bit of a roller-coaster but I guess it will be worth it in the end :)
Boredom is as much a problem as the discomfort tbh, that's why I'm posting trivial stuff on here (and elsewhere ;))

I know all about the boredom, been there done it and got the t-shirt.
Not hip replacement but a fair bit of plumbing to help the blood flow to the legs.

Couldn't find a strip to stick on plus the door card is in a cupboard and I wasn't about to pull it apart, it only went in there yesterday after "much wailing & moaning " from she who must be obeyed.
Just on a side note, is it possible to re-attach these types of clips as they are similar to the ones on the side panels in the back and I have three that have come off ???????

Big thanks for the pics there :good:

Makes me want to go out now and see if hers is the same or if I have a bit missing, but I can't yet so just have to wait, n wait, n wait, n wait...

So not all Rocco owners are 30ish year old "boy racers" ;) (I wonder who the oldest person is on here ?)

Don't ya wish the pain & boredom wasn't a part of the recovery

Thank goodness for Forums like this (and the T25 Camper one etc etc etc) - Discovery channels - Co-Codamol - Oh and I even read a non technical book
