VDO voltage guage instalment
Has anyone put one of these in a mk2?
I've had it kicking about for years and want to fit it to my gt11
Looking for advice on the best earthing point and where is the best place to get an accurate true reading. I'm not sure what it came out of, but it is a genuine vw/audi part
Any pointers would be great
Thanks in advance

Scirocco GTX's came with a volt meter as standard, there should be a wiring diagram in the Haynes manual.

Just been looking through the haynes manual, it has diagrams for everything from cruise control to electric seats nothing seperate for a voltage gauge,
Would it be within the main diagram?

Re: VDO voltage guage instalment
It was only on GTX models for a couple of years (86-88?) so you'd need to look at those diagrams. Basically, from what I remember, there is single black wire to the back of the fuse box and then the earth (which you can run to the earth multi-connector ring near the fusebox).
For the light, just tap into the one of the grey/blue wires - ash tray light or heater control panel light.
Just checked my Bentley manual and it shows the black wire goes to "A25" and is powered from Fuse 18. It doesn't explain what A25 is but I think the multi plugs at the back of the fusebox are lettered. It also shows the same connector having a black/yellow wire for the Idle Boost Valve.

Re: VDO voltage guage instalment
I shall study the haynes manual and try to make sense of it, and Mr Funks guide, which i'm sure it'll make things a lot clearet and get cracking on with it in the morning.
I'm sure it can't be that difficult it only has the 2 wires to it.

Re: VDO voltage guage instalment
You can run a switched live from a one of the blades on the back of the fuse box. If you have a multimeter you should be able to find these fairly easily, some are constant 12v and some are triggered by the ignition. There are earth points next to the fuse box with a bunch of brown wires connected to them.
