mk1 scirocco sales

Post by deanryder »

hi ive seen 2 mk1 sciroccos on ebay in the last 8 weeks , one was a brown storm which sold for over £2450 , and another the other day on a classified add which was advertised for £2450 and now sold , are these cars really worth that much ? i have a silver mk1 and those 2 cars are not a patch on mine so what is mine worth ? thinking of selling it if they really are going for such a high price .

Good condition mk1 Sciroccos go for around £3k. Up to £5k is possible for something truly excellent. Condition of bodywork is key to value and you'll make less if you have rust. If you consider that mk1 Golfs of a similar age will easily sell for double that, Sciroccos remain cheap cars.

sounds good to me theres no rust on mine wheel archs are perfect under front and rear pumpers are perfect the only place which lets the car down it just under the passanger side window the paint is peeling back but there is no rust at all , the other place is around the wiper arm base, it had started to rust around there but was treated 10 years ago and never got any worse .

I think Storms will always be worth more and I think the other you mentioned had ridiculously low miles (24k?). Prior to that the highest price that I've seen was a good (not mint) blue Storm that went for 2750 on ebay.

I think that anything with a new MOT will be worth 1500-2000 depending on condition :good:

There was a 16k miles GLS auto on Volkszone that sold for around £5k. I've seen several Storms sell for over £3.5k. Run-of-the-mill GLS in good condition £2-£2.5k. Rust bucket with an MoT around £1k. No MoT complete car around £500.

What model and year? In my opinion, because of the rarity factor, chrome-bumpered models will attract a premium as will Storms. A GLi will also be of more interest than GLS models.
My personal interest is the very early TS - and original complete car - so this would always be more of an interest to me, with or without rust! Obviously Something is ever only worth what someone is willing to pay, so hope for an enthusiast with a passion for the model you have.

mines a v reg silver GLS runs a dream with no rust anywhere body or underneath , not mint but a good example but i have never seen a mint one yet , seats are a bit tired but are clean , top of the dash has cracks in from the sun but ive even got a good uncracked dashboard to go with the car i cant be bothered to put it in .
