The top one has come of on mine, pretty sure it's an earth, though please correct me if I'm wrong!
As for the bottom one I haven't a clue...all i do know is I've nudged it by accident a couple of times and both times it sparked and blew my horn fuse..probably needs cleaning up and re attaching..
cheers

Maybe a fuel cutoff solenoid.
Hopefully someone will give a definite answer.

Missiles or the ejector seat. I can never remember which

i think it's an anti-icing heater. mine had it and i thought it might be a cut off, but it ran fine without it connected

Yep, it's a heater. It would have originally been on the pooburg carburettor and someone remembered to swap it onto the Weber. Ex's Golf didn't have this and it ran like crap when cold.

Ok that's interesting though I would have prefered the ejector seatAndyJ wrote:Yep, it's a heater. It would have originally been on the pooburg carburettor and someone remembered to swap it onto the Weber. Ex's Golf didn't have this and it ran like crap when cold.
Do you mean cold ie winter, or cold, before the engine gets up to temp? Trying to get to the bottom of my carb not running smooth anymore...

Re: can you identify these...
look where the fuel feed into the carb is. on the underside of it you will find a (17mm i think) nut. undo it with a bowl underneath to catch what comes out. amongst other things there will be fuel and a little filter. you may also get water and white flaky bits. make sure the filter is clean, and spray round inside with some cleaner to wash the crud out. this should be done at every service, but no one ever bothers!
if there is either water or white flaky bits in there, you'll need to trace the cause of it. filler neck being the most likely.

There's 3 things there.
Top is an earth.
Middle is a mystery.
At the bottom, there's a round, black effort with a funny shaped metal plate on, held on with a cross point screw.... THAT's the heater off the pierburg.
