Welcome :hi:

Dingwall, that's even further north than Colin (DT1)! Yet another Scirocco for Biggar in May?

Hello all, just joined the club as I've just bought a Scirocco. Name's Tom and I'm a 30 year old car freak trapped in a 65 year old body :hi:

I have a couple of modern classics, a 21yr old MX5 eunos roadster and of course my reason for being here which is a 1985 GTL auto in Mars red with 35k on the clock. Very nice car and I gather quite rare.

I've searched for problems and the only things I can find wrong are:
I need an LED for the main beam warning lamp (VW haven't got any) so I'm wondering about Maplins.

The other thing is the auto choke which is quite err sticky? hot starting isn't amazing either so I'm wondering if there's a Weber replacement for it.
Other than that it runs really well and coming to a showground in the Ripon/Harrogate/Auckland areas soon.

PS I'll post the queries in the appropriate forums.

That was a FREEBIE (or may cost you a coffee at Biggar)

I don't think anyone on here would argue with what I wrote.

Welcome Tom, nice car you have there and nice to see you are in the north east.
As a matter of interest me and Mazallan (Tony) are planning on meeting up on Saturday, please feel free to come along.

I'm Mark, from Newcastle, just turned to a Mk1 Scirocco GLS for my daily duties!! as my others are out of MOT right now, and it came up for sale, when my syncro failed MOT unexpectedly :)

Got a Mk1 cabby GTI (came from London)
A G60 Golf (came from Dorset)
And a Syncro Golf 2 (came from Northampton)

So me and my dolly get around, this collection has taken me a few years to get hold of, and now on a mission to keep them all nice and roadworthy.

Been collecting engines and gearboxes, and building my tools up. Have really fell for the rocco like, although not as comfy for daily driving as the mk1 golf, it's def not going in the for sale section. I'm quite techy with mk1's, so might have a go at helping answer the odd query in there, and have a few set of wheels and parts, so will be posting in there too.
