MK1 Chrome strips

Post by 1lazza »

Has anyone had a good result re-plating the chrome trim that sits in the door/rear Q window seals? - They are originally chrome plated aluminium and do not respond well to polishing.

I'm in Surrey - so would appreciate a recommendation for a local platers that could do this kind of job well.

I'm also guessing that NOS trims are unobtanium. Thanks,

Laurence

I was thinking of doing mine too. Is it a glass out job?

Definitely glass out for the quarters and front/rear screens or else the trims will be damaged. They go in/ come out as a unit.

There must be someone out there who has managed to restore their brightwork? - I want to get this done before reassembling the car. And I want to reassemble the car!
