headlamp high low beam at the same time?
as per title i am looking to get the dipped beam to stay on when the main beam is switched on. so how do you do it?

You don't want to do that because you'll break your lightswitch, melt wiring and reflectors from your lights.
If you want more light first things to do is relays, fatter wiring and osram nightbreakers/bosch +90%/philips xtreme vision bulbs.

the outer headlights have H4 dual filament bulbs - i.e. dip and main beam come from the same lightbulb - so are not suitable for dip and main at the same time. you'll just end up stopping every 2 miles to put new bulbs in as they will run too hot.

Re: headlamp high low beam at the same time?
Im well aware of problems with doing this with standard h4 halgeon bulbs. the thing is im using hid h4-2. which means it uses a hid element for dipped beam and a seperate halgeon bulb for main. the reason i want this done is because its annoying having the dipped beam go out on dark country roads because it takes a few seconds for the hid unit to warm up again.

Nate i agree with you they are not legal in a headlight unit that is not approved to use a hid bulb.but.... i dont care! i have had a couple of sets of hids now and have been using them on the road for a few years and never have been pulled over for it. its a bit of a grey area in the law (at the moment). i have even been pulled over by a traffic cop for something else he checked my lights all worked and mentioned nothing about them being hid.
the trouble is if you said hid to the bloke who was designing the headlight unit in the 80s he probably would have thought it was a new type of file o fax !!!!!
i believe the hid approved headlight unit is also supposed to have electric level adjusters on them. which counts my rocco out!
cant see how they could fail on a mot tho? unless your levels where wrong? but thats a case of adjustment on the headlight unit.
any way straying off the topic a bit really. so if i was to get into the back of the headlight stalk could i not just bypass the cut off switch ? cant see how this could melt any of the wiring as there would be no more voltage then normal going down the wire???

Re: headlamp high low beam at the same time?
You forgot to tell most important thing that you have HID-kit installed. I supposed that you meant how to get low and high beam work at the same with H4 halogen bulbs and that will fry wiring and reflectors.
I have Ollo H4 Bi-xenons which have moving lamp in my rocco. Low beam is fine but high beam is not so great. That won't be problem if you install HIDs also into extra high beams. Also you won't have that blind moment when same lamp works as low and high beam.
HIDs in rocco are illegal but roccos lights with standard wiring are a joke.
