Project Rocsan :) GT2

Post by isaidthephil »

Hi Guys,

Hope you all well. So I have been away from the scene for a little while concentrating on other things but am back now with a new retro ride which im looking to have minted and show ready for 2012.

I used to own a 1981 Silver 5 door MK1 Golf on Compomotive TH Mono's and custom side exit exhausts. Now I am trying out a MK2 Scirocco GT2 which I have named Rocsan......... I always name my cars =s

Anyway below are some pics of the old girl. I am currently just driving her as a daily which I will always do as I dont do concours.

Below are the first day I got her home about 8 weeks ago;

Below are the BBS wheels the guy chucked in the boot for me too=)

Below are just a couple of pics I took the other day after fitting the BBS's

So as you can see she is a pretty straight car, just needs some TLC to get her up to scratch.

Whats plans do I have for her?

1. Full respray towards the end of the year in the original colour blue as you see, although i am thinking about a colour change.
2. Some Coilovers
3. Some new wheels once I have finally decided which ones I want (keeping this retro btw)
4. Although the engine runs perfect I have a 2Litre 8v TSR engine in the garage so this is going to be dropped in her.
5. Custom 4 branch manifold and exhaust system fitted courtesy of Blue Flame.
6. Rolling Road the old girl and get her puring like a pedigree =)

There will obviously be some minor details that I will change over this journey but nothing major as im keeping her as close to original as possible, keeping her retro but making her a beast:)

I will keep you all posted on where I am up to and whats happening etc.

In the meantime let me know what you think and chuck some ideas my way:)

Cheers

Phil

Looks like a nice motor :vcool:
The registration, if orginal means it was origanlly local to me. Either supplied by 1 of 3 garages. Either Pentraeth Automotive, Slaters, or Rhos County (Now no more)

Thanks guys. yeah I picked her up from Newborough in Anglesey for just £330. Looking through the paperwork it looks like this is first time she's been out of wales. It's a shame but being a welsh family I dont feel so bad.

Thanks:) Hopefully things will go smoothly.

I have the BBS Alloys and the steels that it has been pictured on. The steels dont have tyres on them as I had them put on the BBS's however I will be selling all of these so if your interested in them give me a shout.

I should be fitting the wheels and tyres on Tuesday so I'll get some new pics up then.

Whilst im saving for a respray im very tempted to do a bit of paintwork myself BUT am afraid ill make things worse, anybody got any tips? I have a compressor and paint gun which should make things a little easier.

Today with some help from a friend we decided to start fitting;

After about an hour we have 3 coilovers fitted and adjusted;

Then we got to the final one......
