Which brake hoses do I need to buy for fitting Scirocco 16v 256mm front brakes to my GTX? Got all the parts just need the brake hoses.. Will standard 239mm hoses work?
I'm keeping rear drums, so can I just buy a standard 4 hose kit?
Ta,
Henry

I used a mk2 Golf GTI 6-piece Goodridge kit but then I had rear discs. I'm not sure if there if there'll be a "kit" for 256 fronts/rear drums.

I don't know for sure about braided lines, but I've used standard rubber flexi's on my 256s with no issues on full lock, so I'd imagine that a braided kit should have no problem either.

Standard Scirocco 239mm hoses? Or standard mk2 16v? Do your hoses go straight into the calipers? - Or do they have those small sections of pipework attached to caliiper that the hose connect too?Tim_R wrote:I don't know for sure about braided lines, but I've used standard rubber flexi's on my 256s with no issues on full lock, so I'd imagine that a braided kit should have no problem either.
If its the standard 239mm ones then a 4 hose standard kit SHOULD be OK in theory!?
Cheers for your help folks..

Standard scirocco 239mm hoses that go into the caliper, using standard golf 16v calipers.

Re: 256mm front brakes (What hoses)
When i had my 16v brakes on my last gtx i ran standard goodridge scirocco hoses as looking at etka i couldnt see a specific hose for the 16v scirocco, what i wasnt too keen on however was that with the hose clipped into the bracket on the strut the angle between brake caliper and strut was pretty tight, i ran them fine like this but the plastic coating on the hoses discoloured where it passed through the struts gromet, be fine with rubber hose as they can bend more but bothered me with the braided hoses, one of the reasons i havent yet got round to putting the brakes onto my current gtx, i would be interested to know whether either doing away with the bracket (assuming no rub points without it) or raising it would help, in fact it would be handy to see what the original 16v scirocco setup looked like
