Unions arrived, now just waiting on the correct fluid reservoir for my master cylinder. Always something.....
Yesterday was pretty much rained off. Have however re-routed my lines for the master cylinder using this magnificent piece of kit...
So now looks like this...
Will refill the system and bleed tomorrow when I have an assistant available. Only thing is for the life of me I can't remember how the spring clips on the back of the servo? Will post an appropriate thread up.
Also, dug out the TSR big valve head I will be running...
Connected manifolds, havn't painted the inlet just yet incase there is a fuel leak...
And fully torqued up on the block with Newmans cam and new splash guard...
Really hope to be in the position to turn the key by friday. Looking possible so far!

The manifold paint may smoke a bit when you start up, but it will clear! Yummy TSR head indeed

Patience Padawan, nearly done.
Pete sorted me with my spring issue. Will pay more attention next time rather than going gun-ho with a pry bar when removing stuff.
Will have to run the 2 inch downpipe as my Jetex is the 2 inch system, single output back box.
Left to do....
-time engine
-bleed brakes
-connect various looms and cables.
Basically a steady afternoons work. Will have to run the standard rocker cover tho as my airbox will not clear the MK3 one. Boo!!!!

wow just read all through this thread and seen the work on your car it is awsome stuff and u saying at the begining u've baught it to learn some mechanics u seem to do well and loving the work keep it up dude and i'm looking forward to reading ur post saying it lives and runs good luck to ya

1 step forward, 3 back.......
Got these tho, big improvement, just need to clean the locks up a touch...
And after bleeding the brakes, she is finally on 4 wheels again with added standard indies. Love the look...
I miss this car, sad as it sounds........

Right, to summarise. Brakes are bled, but when I was timing up the engine, the camshaft bearing sheared a stud, so had to take the head off again and get that repaired. Then lost interest.
After xmas, I found the love again, apart from the above purchases, I made a huge order from Auto Silicone Hoses. The result...
Started making my hoses, using the old ones as templates. Heres the bottom rad hose for example...
In terms of the metal coolant pipe, I made my own from a MK2 Golf Gti, and standard Scirocco carb. Mainly to bypass the water to inlet output and the oil cooler output. Here is the gear...
This was fitted today along with a new thermostat housing and low temp thermostat.
Heres a random pic of some more hoses I made up, looks better than the pics show...
However, head will be coming off again (its not torqued on at present, just resting to ensure hoses meet flange on front of head) due to this recent purchase...

Productive day.
First, after a touch of filing for clearance, got both manifolds on the head and after, the head torqued on. Hopefully for the last time
Exhaust manifold received some heat wrap too to aid in keeping heat soak at bay.
Got the downpipe bolted up along with the spacer. What a bugger that was, hardly any room with a twin carb set up. Slightly concerned about room at the bulkhead, certainly won't be running trumpets any time soon, will have to chat up somebody at Demon Tweeks next Sunday in regards to filtration options.
Anywho, a pic...
As you can see, brought the strut brace out of retirement, bugger now won't clear the bonnet for some reason?
Also fitted bits of loom, replaced nuts and bolts for stainless items and fitted my mint rear lights, pics of which tomorrow, was pitch black when I finished. Can't wait for tomorrow, really feeling the love for this car again.

Today, took the rear plinth off to clean behind and fit my new plate holders. Found a previous owner decided to drill two holes in the rear panel to hold a plate on, because the 4 factory holes are not enough to work with apparently? Covered up those holes which hopefully will be the last of any water ingress into the boot.
Also finally painted the rear tow eye red, added LED number plate bulbs and fitted new number plate lamps as the old ones were beyond brittle.
That's how her backside looks as of today. Well chuffed.
Just waiting on parts so I can carry on under the bonnet, if it all looks as good in reality as it does in my head, I'll be super stoked

Wow, Alex, dude, that looks really nice under the bonnet. I have missed this thread it would seem. Just had a read through and its great stuff. You must be chuffed?
