steering wheel tourque question

How tight is the steering wheel tightened to on an early mk2? (85 model)

lb per sq inch would be best if possible! Thanks

Hi,
According to the trusty old Haynes manual the torque setting is 50 Nm or 37 lbf ft in old money.
Check on page 191 if you have a manual and just can't find it.

personally i wouldn't use a torque wrench on it, but i would have in the back of my mind the thought of what could happen if it came off... :hugegrin:
