Light switch lamp not working

Post by go-for-it1 »

The lamp in my light switch is not working. Can the lamp be replaced or do you have to buy the lamp holder with a lamp in it. I tried to get the lamp out but just crushed it!! Are they still available from the stealers?

I seem to remember having to buy a new bulb holder and bulb to go in it. Also seem to remember getting though 2 bulbs in pretty short order as well as it lights up whenever the ignition is turned on.

I replaced the one in the Storm with parts from my very helpful dealer.

I actually didn't even realise that there was meant to be a light in the switch... I guess mine's always been blown :D

Got a new lamp holder from VW, part No 321919039, £1.91 inc VAT which is the one on the left of the first photo. As you can see it is different than the original one on the right and as it is also a slightly larger diameter it will not fit in the hole in the lightswitch plug seen on picture 2.
I have tried to get it to fit but no joy so if anyone has a spare lampholder the same as the original one here I would appreciate it. The old one is completely falling apart inside so can't be made to work. The lampholder is actually part of the red plug and not the lightswitch so it would have to come from an old loom or a scrapper.
Bit disappointed with the new one as it was the correct number on ETKA in the parts dept and I could see it was a scirocco dashboard and not any other VW!! :ire:
