INXX Bonnet Lifters/Struts

Post by djw766 »

Has anyone tried fitting these to a Mk2 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK2-B ... 519a88b6ad Have spoken to the seller and he recommends the Golf Mk1 fitment (the link is for a Mk2 - better photo!!)

I did fit some of these INXX lifters to a 206 years ago and they were of good quality doing the job well. Just a little concerned that they're not specific to the MK2 and have read a few horror stories on other forum sites about eventual adverse affects on the bonnet itself. Have seen other threads using the tailgate struts but....any advice appreciated.. :good:

i think tail gate struts will be to hardcore, the mk1 golf ones should be good?
little bit of modification but as long as they're not mounted on a weak point you shouldnt get any creases in your bonnet from pushing them down?

how much more does a mk2 rocco bonnet weigh compared to a mk1 golf?

Birdy has posted a how-to on fitting bonnet lifters before - he has them on his car. I couldn't find it in the FAQ, so might be worth sending him a PM to see if he can tell you how he did it.

I have a set of veedub machine lifters, I wouldnt say they are great quality, the 'stainless' parts rust very quick...

Incidently just bought a set of rear gas struts from sgs derby, fitted fine and work really well...
So many plans, so little time

Cheers fellas.....may get a set of the INXX ones and see how they measure up compared to the tailgate struts and take things from there. Also found this in the meantime: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4574353
