Re: FRONT STRUTS ON 89 SCALA, HELP!!!
all running gear basically mk1 golf.
back in the day some suspension kits used to come in scirocco/golf cabriolet/golf hatch specific formats but any of the usual outlets will be able to help - gsf, ecp or bbt - see traders/discounts section.
moved for you too.....

Hi Sean thanks for getting back so quick! I'll get some mk1 struts ordered tomorrow then and see how they fit, i was quoted £11 each for front springs from euro to which almost seems too cheap!!
On a diffrerent mater went to see mark on your recomendation to sort out the rot on the scala, what a top bloke! i was the there for several hours discusing the rocco. Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction there.
Cheers matt.

Re: FRONT STRUTS ON 89 SCALA, HELP!!!
Hi Matt, The stuff GSF and Europarts sell are generally inserts for the struts not the strut itself which are difficult or even impossible to source. The Mark 1 golf struts are the same and the camber bolts will be needed. Where are you 'cos If you are stuck I have 2 struts one with a good oil damper which could be fitted straight away and the other one the damper is shot. No springs though. Both struts are solid and were painted a couple of years ago but would benefit from a wirebrushing and a couple of coats of hammerite now. Both yours for £20 but you will have to add the postage. I can remove the shot damper to reduce weight though. Let me know if you are interested mate and if you are not to far away even better if they can be picked up or Pony express.

Hi Rob cheers for getting back mate. I'll try gsf and euro to see what they come up with, i have ordered same new camber bolts and nuts through work and i think i ahve managed to source same top hat plates as they are showing three at the factory!! Im based in Tamworth staffs mate which is a faire trek from you in Blackburn. If i get no joy with Euro tomoz i would definately be interested mate. I have a new pair of shockers already to fit so if you could remove the shot one that would be great. Im not sure how much the postage would be for next day though- im pretty desperate for them!! ha. How would i go about paying you on here?

I am on night shift at the moment (and tomorrow) so can't do anything till tomorrow p.m. anyway, but I can weigh them then and find out what the postage would be. Paypal is ok but let me check the postage first then you can decide if you definately want them. I probably wouldn't be able to despatch till tuesday though.

Matt, if you have 2 new inserts I will attempt to get the good damper out as well to reduce weight if you don't need it?

Ok mate, I will bring the struts into work tomorrow night and remove the dampers and pack up ready to go on tuesday. If you get sorted in the meantime no problem, just let me know.
