Welcome aboard! :hi:

Looks like you got a bargain there and I'm sure you'll have it in tip top condition in no time. Until then here's some inspiration for you ... another white Scala. This one belongs to ianaudia4 and was snapped at the National Meet.

Hi "SwissTony" Love the handle

I am in Chester - if you need a hand with owt give me a shout.

Is that a carb one or one of the rarer injected Scala's ?

You mention the engine, what is up with it ?
If you need a replacement I know of a couple in breakers near Chester.

its a carb model and as far as the engine goes im hoping it just needs a service its very noisy (top end maybe just neds tappets re setting) it looks like it will need a water pump though.

The car is still in marple at the moment and on that note anyone know of a good transporter company or someone with a trailer? :beg:

Ah, well after it has been stood for 9 years the hydraulic tappets will no doubt be a bit sticky, an oil & filter change and a good long run may well free them up. If not, changing them is not a big job. Or they can be stripped, cleaned, re-primed and often come good :)

I wondered if they had hydraulic tappets or not so i guess that answers that question. I was an apprentice mechanic for vw when i left school for around three years but never finished the apprenticeship as I joined the army, I couldnt remember when vw started using them?

Ive finally got her home found out loading her on the transporter there is a fuel leak coming from the fuel lines underneath, cant wait to get stuck in proper!

ive been out giving her a bit of a wash just to get 9 years of crap off and assess what needs to be done......alot more than first thought but I suppose thats half the fun!

im in the process of enroling on a 2 year evening classic car restoration course so that should come in handy.

ill take some more pics in a bit and try and upload them.

:bye: bye for now wish me luck!!!
