2 instrument cluster problems..

Post by lewp91 »

firstly i noticed the oil pressure light sits there flashing all the time, however the engine seems fine?
what can i do to check this?

secondly, the rpm counter sits there bouncing when i rev the car, it very inaccurately wobbles back n forth as the revs climb,
from what i can tell it is something to do with the coil wiring?
not sure to be honest, its only something i've read?

the car is a 1989 scala DX 1.8 k-jet,

my mate seems to think that the cam (268) is the reason with the RPM signal, i personally think it's a wiring problem.

cheers

Lew

ok, searching didnt help but going through most of the threads did!
would seem that the earth strap between the coil n rocker may be shot, i'll report back when i can :)

Earth strap to the rocker cover, very likely the culprit, all sorts of issues occur when it is off, also there is another that goes to the oil temperature switch (brown in colour).
