Well before the heavens decided to open I was able to get bits dome to the tailgate. There was a few rust spots around the badges and a dent along the bottom section. Proceeded to attack rust spots and try push out the shallow dent. Got it all sanded down, high build primered and then couple quick goes over with some grey primer. At this time.the heavens poured, but got a lil pic.

Re: mk2 moo's mk2 resto-change of plan!

Post by mk2moo »

Well i have decided to change my ways with this car. I want to do something diff with it now. In other words lots of mods. I started today by taking the rear wiper and spoiler off. I am going to get all the holes welded up and smoith of the whole boot and have a popper. I love clean looking xars and so going to try make this smooth and tidy. I have also stuck my tsw's on it for now as selling my red one with the original look. Now to the plans.

Full dekitting and pulling right out.
Staggered wheels including 9's on the back and 8's on the front.
I want to custom make a grill but not sure whether i want round or square lamps yet.
Engine wise i havent chosen yet but it wont be staying standard
The usual droppage and upgrading thing such as brakes etc.

The interior is going to have a big change. The whole of the rear pulled out as the rear seats are useless.
Corrado dash but going to slightly custom the look of it.
I am going to put seats in from a newer golf in full leather.

This is the basic details from it now, will be more i. Depth once i start going deeper.
Few pics of the start.

Today i got a lil bit done to the car after a few interviews. I started taking the kit off and luckily the car is as solid as i first thought. There is no corrosion what so ever so far. Going to finish taking the kit off then clean up the paint just for now.

Re your painting, what paint did you use and did you paint the panel or manage to just paint the small areas and blend in ?

with the painting a couple of bits are whole panels, but some like the door handle bit are blended in. I did a bit on the pass door but used a different lacquer and turned crap. I used a decent lacquer on the rest and all is good.

So I take it it was 2 pack and gun, not rattle cans ?
