What bumper paint do i use?

Post by malmac »

Hi,

Going to refit my bumpers to my mk1 scirocco after it comes back from the bodyshop but the bumpers are horribly fadad.
Is there any specific colour or make i should be looking for in order to get it back to factory spec - i don't really like shiney black bumpers.

Ps, anyone know where to get the insulation from, for under the carpet for my scirocco also ??

Give markh a shout. He's done loads of restos on here and uses a satin black from a rattle can, but I can't remember which make he uses. And don't forget to thoroughly degrease them before hitting them with paint.

:beers:

For factory spec you want not to paint them at all. Heat gun and back-to-black type product should return things to original.

Thanks to all above for the advice, i'll certainly look into all options and take it from there.

yup, this is the best plan. although i've not had good experiences with back to black type spray can stuff. autoglym bumper care (green snot stuff) or autosmart vinyl sheld gel. but use them very sparingly

i also got good results tarting up an old ford maverick by using black boot polish on the bumpers
