Lightened flywheel for a 9A

Post by MrD »

Right, being nagged by the man who is building my engine up,just bought the manifold,so that's another thing ticked off my list.
I have been collecting parts for the engine build for nearly 2 years now, slow progress.
I need a flywheel,had been told to get a Gripforce one from the states,but I e mailed them ,and they don't do one for a 9A .
Will be in the region of 11lbs opposed to what I think the standard one weighs 16lbs ?
The guy building it has sort of scared me a bit ,going into detail of what a fly can do if it let's go,so I need one that has been professionally lightened,by a company who know what they are doing.
Any suggestions ?

What gearbox are you using? flywheel choice will be down to gearbox, have to have the right clutch for the gearbox and the right flywheel for the clutch, i ask this before i make a suggetion on the flywheel...

Using an 02A cable change, from a Mk3 Golf, will be using a VR clutch, and pressure plate, which I will be getting balanced with the flywheel and crank

ok in that case your probably best to get yourself a g60 flywheel which will fit both the engine and the clutch your using

So am I right in assuming that the G60 flywheel is lighter than the standard 9A flywheel ? So in essence I won't need to get it lightened ? Just balanced with crank and clutch.
Cheers for the heads up
