Unfortunately not .... She belongs to Keith Wingar. Not sure if there are any pics of his car on here but it is a first class example of a Storm.

Keith has put much of his skill into the resto work on my car, build thread will be put on here very soon

Wow! :shocking: take me back to 1979 - time-warp stuff. That is as near to the canine reproductive organs as you are going to get.

I used to have a stock 1980 Scirocco..... fun car to drive. After that was all MK1 Golf/Rabbits. Finally, I have a Scirocco in the fleet again. :groove:

I have a little work to do on the car.... redo the fenders, get 225/45/13 race rubber (yes, fits quite easily!), update the harness, tune it, install new battery.... then drive the hell out of it.

I posted these over at no-rice in my "various projects thread" thread, but figured I would play with the cool kids with Sciroccos too. :beers:

Video on very very very very very very old and hard tires (the only thing they had going for them is that they were round)

I know some traditionalists might disagree, but I like the IMSA style arches. :vcool:

Nice video clip.

Do you know Doug Teulie, as you seem to be involved in the same type of races that he is?

The fenders were actually a literal interpretation of the rules for hillclimbing in our area that were trying to address people with cutout or widen (e.g. Berg Cup) fenders or fender flares that would allow for wider tires.

The rule stated that all fenders must have the stock appearance when viewed from the side. Well, if you look at the side of the car straight on, the fenders look stock…. Think of the view from a perspective where you cannot see the top edge of the fender (the extended part). The extension is just another Scirocco fender.

With much longer control arms and widened fenders, this car can fit some very meaty tires on it.

I don’t know the guy… any idea where is resides or races?

My very first rocco when I was about 19 years old (ahem about 20 odd years ago!). Bought a small paint sprayer and tidied this up. Was rotten though.. and the self igniting dashboard was also fun in the dark!

Very nice car you've got there. Doug T (as he's known on the internet) is in Southern California. :beers:

Got my Mk 1 Storm out to Ingleton village show on Saturday ( near Darlington, County Durham- not the Yorkshire Dales Ingleton ! ). There were only three VW's- a nice sixties Beetle there but I parked next to a governor split screen camper which got all the attention and rightly so - he turned down two offers pushing 10k just that day. Luckily it stayed dry-my baby hasn't felt rain for nearly five years.
Raby and Witton Castle shows coming up.
