Seconded. It's actually so rare to see a mint standard Rocco these days that it will actually stand out from the crowd

Tempting indeed, but I do like the bigger alloys, so they might just remain one of the few non-standard touches on this one.

Not so much preservation yesterday as destruction! :ire:

Lily is kept at the house in a garage, which you gain access to via double gates at the side of the house. Unfortunately, the gates and driveway, like the garage, are very narrow and to make matters worse they’re offset to the garage itself so getting in and out is always a tight squeeze.

However, I’ve always managed it, even it the dark, without any mishaps … until yesterday! I must have just lost my concentration for a split second and whack, the mirror hit off the gable end of our house …

Gutted doesn’t even begin to explain how I felt! :crying:

I’ve already put a call into the local dealer and VW Heritage and both have said the parts have been discontinued. So the search begins today for a quality replacement that will match the standard of the car overall.

I’m lucky that I can at least temporarily ‘recycle’ the one I’ve removed from Project Poppy, but that’s not really good enough to provide a long term solution.

So, if you’ve got a spare mirror that’s in mint condition, please give me a shout. :beg:

eeeek. Can't help you I'm afraid Paul, none of mine are what one would call "mint". "Shite" would be the best description I could muster. :swoon:

The simple solution for the future is to remove that bit of wall, or if that's too much trouble... just move house to prevent it happening again :dunno:

Replacement unit arrived from marcains … top bloke! :good:

Image

After a quick rub over with Meguiars …

Image

Door panel off, but propped up as I was too lazy to disconnect the speaker cable …

Image

Slight problem when it came to undoing the large nut around the adjuster as all my big spanners were up at the workshop, but then I remembered I had a basin spanner :yup: which did the business …

Image

Then everything back on in reverse as per Mr Haynes’ instructions and job done …

Image

Delighted with the end result, just a few of my oily fingermarks to clean off in the corner and she's almost as good as she was before my little mishap. At least I don’t need to hide her in the garage now!
