Breather in air filter, little rubber thing!

Post by christhemann »

Just in the process of stripping down my old engine ready for the transplant!
I decided to clean out the breather hose to the air filter / rocker cover and accidentally broke the little orange rubber washer thing, that covers the breather inside the air filter.
Any idea if this is replaceable or what part number it is?

Thanks a lot.
Chris

Take a look in wagenstad mate, it should be under the engine section, I just had a look but not sure what you mean but there are some good illustrations.

Cheers Ian,
Sorry for the rubbish description.

Inside the air filter under the red circle normally is the orange "disc", which covers the holes connecting to the rubber hose going to the rocker cover. Mine broke off, and can't see on any of the VW diagrams.

Looking like its not available, and its so damn simple as well! (not simple enough to make yourself though)

Mine fell off about 6 months ago. Haven't noticed any discernible difference so far.

In theory, there may be a bit of emulsification of the oil if there's moisture in the air getting into the engine.

If anybody knows any different please let me know too as I'll need to sort.
