Mate of mine cracked his windscreen "on the way home from work" (and NOT on his drive with a hammer... ) and got his screen changed through his insurance company. It was scratched perviously with some grit off the wipers. Odd how coincidences occur ;)

Yeah the insurance works quite well in such cases. I had windscreen replaced on my Porsche 944 recently - although it was vandalised.

I need to try to fix it first though before I notice any cracks :)
