HI All,
I recently bought Kevin's Storm project from Durham and have swapped in another engine. There are new fuel lines in place and fuel hoses.
Before I began doing anymore work on the car I wanted to check the spare engine I had was at least functional - however, when I cam to try to start the car I am getting no fuel out of the injectors. the fuel pump does run fine and pressurize the system - with fuel getting to the fifth injector (which doesn't seem to be firing - but thats another problem!). When I lift the sensor plate and the fuel pump on - still no fuel from the injectors. Spark is OK.
So - I'm thinking I may have either/all:
1) Constricted new fuel supply line... but seems unlikely
2) Insufficient fuel pressure to the injectors ...need to check supply with a fuel injector removed and fuel delivery quantity as per Haynes
3) Faulty fuel mixture unit
4) Stuck mixture unit plunger ..but it feels OK and has smooth travel
Before I removed the old engine - it did run albeit terribly - so fuel was being received into the combustion chambers then.
Anything else I may have missed?
Thanks
IAn
(Oh and the waterpump leaks and I think the engine has a problem elsewhere too - but none of these issues should affect the above problem...!)
what else could my problem be...?

Warm up regulator? controls fuel pressure and has a gauze filter which can get clogged up with rubbish, in fact i would be inclined to remove each banjo bolt one at a time and check the gauze filters as there are a number in the system (in the fuel dizzy) which by now if never touched before have probably caught a fair bit of rubbish

Re: what else could my problem be...?
Might be realy daft here but are you sure the flow and return lines are the correct way round....same with the feul filter
Either
all 4 injectors nfu,
no feul in tank,
blocked filter,
f.p.relay nfu
disregard the w.u.r as this only effect mixture.

If it is not broken, Do not fix it !!!
Re: what else could my problem be...?
hi ,i've got very similar problem mate!
i traced mine to low fuel pressure in the return line from the W.U.R,
this means that the bi-metallic strip and/or heater isn't working or at least
working well enough to give correct fuel pressure back through the metering head
to the 4 main injectors.
i got stuck with this problem for ages, but managed to have chat with a VW trained technician.
worked for me,hope it helps you to mate

Re: what else could my problem be...?
Thanks for the replies - at the moment I've backtracked the problem to the fuel pump and/or a blockage from the tank to the pump - as the pump delivers zero fuel to the mixture unit. Will remove the sender unit this evening for a nosey...
