Car has been off the road for 2 weeks now and I don't know what was wrong with me but I never did anything to get it sorted. However yesterday I rang a local French car specialist whose mechanic owns a Scirocco and they could fit me in for 8:30 this morning
Woke up all excited ready to get it to the garage and my battery was dead. Luckily a friend with a rather nice Jetta got it going. Ironically the clutch seemed fine on the way. I'm just waiting for a call to see if they can fix it today or not - fingers crossed then I can drive home for the weekend. It put a smile on my face just nipping round the corner with a dodgy clutch after two weeks without driving.
Also, I often give lifts to my friends who don't drive and think nothing of it and since not having a car I have had to get about 3 lifts to various places and felt really cheeky doing so...does anyone else ever get this?
Essay over and I will finish it off with a nice picture of my new grille
Waiting for a call.

Re: Waiting for a call.
Well the damage was worse than I thought and a previous repair plate had already been bolted on. I had one of the mk1 golf kits put on for now as a temp fix, but it looks like I will need it properly welding up sooner rather than later as the whole bulkhead is flexing quite bad when I dip the clutch.
Is this going to cost me a fortune?
Got my high idle all sorted though, just seems to be running a little rich. Also managed to give it a quick wash
