High beam always on

Post by seanr68 »

Got a prob with my 91 scala.
Over the weekend been doing a few little jobs on it and one of those jobs was to replace the starter switch at back of ign barrel.
So i had to remove the steering wheel and the indicator/wiper stalks. Anyways, got it all back together but now the high beam comes on with the dipped headlights....not side lights, just when i switch dipped beam on, the high beam comes on as well. Tried (obviously) moving the stalk about, to no avail.
Now i 've taken the stalks off to check i'd put them back right, which i appear to have done. Only other thing i can think is a relay somewhere thats stuck on??? Dunno, bit baffled by it.
Anyone out there in roccoland help out??

is the headlight flasher working?

you maybe missed the wee hook on the left hand side that controls the dim dip/ flasher? :dunno:

Nope, flasher not working mate. When I turn lights on to sidelights, they work fine. But when I flick switch to dipped, the high beam comes on and won't turn off, no matter how much I wiggle the stalk.

There aren't any relays on the headlights, with the standard loom. They're powered directly from the ignition switch (which is one of the reasons why the ignition switches burn out).
