OK,
Not sure if this should be in here but... My 1991 GT11 auto is having problems starting. It will sometimes but other times it wont. If i turn the engine off before it has warmed up takes ages to get it running again. It doesnt seem to idle right either. Revs keep dropping dropping quite low when the choke is in. Then when i turn the engine off it sort of spits and spurts and the engine seems to start again if you know what i mean. driving me crazy. I have had a new starter motor fitted but that has only seemed to help a little.
If some one could help that would be great.
Ta Jamie

Hi,
Not sure if it is a Mk1 or 2 but sure this has been up recently.
Try this and see if it helps.

If not do a search with - starting - idle - choke etc and see what comes up.
Good Luck.

That's what i guessed too... If it's a weber, it's all about the ignition timing/mixture/idle speed juggling act. Think it was Nate who posted up "base line" settings for the weber on here a while ago.the edmundator wrote:That made me think it already has a Weberjamie190382 wrote:Revs keep dropping dropping quite low when the choke is in.
I didn't get anywhere with mine till I got a CO meter to set the carb up, and set the ignition timing with the "advance till it pinks, then back it off a bit" technique.
If it's a weber, and the revs drop after a run (eg. coming up to a roundabout on an A road etc) then that could be the first stage of sticking needle valve. You get a replacement in the rebuild kit (about 20 quid when I looked) and all the gaskets, so you don't need to panic about damaging one when stripping it down.
