fuel pump - carbed to injection (kinda) haha

Post by nye »

hi all, ive just finished putting a 1.8t into my 91 gt2 and having complete headloss over fuel pumps???? as far as im aware this is the same concept as the usual inj conversion,

at the moment i have got a fuel pump from a mk2 golf 16v and wondering if i actually need a lift pump along side this?

i have read that people have used just single fuel pumps for this and also of someone using a bmw inline pump??

also if do need an in tank pump what cars can this be taken from? will one from a mk3 polo fit? do i need the full sender unit also?

sorry for all questions but been baffling me since started the build and now finaly got it running (mk4 pump in a jacobs cracker box full of fuel :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: ) really need to get something abit more mot friendly sorted out

that would be me. go find a nice big engined beamer (mine came from a 90s 328i) and that shoulod give you a more than healthy fuel supply. they're quite happy without a separate scavenge pump in the tank too, so long as they aren't mounted too far away from it. i made a little bracket that mounted up alongside the tank where an injected rocco would have one.

If you go this route, just get a Rocco Inj pump. Fits straght in, although you might be needing to make some wiring adjustments...
