My Car: Mk2 1992 Scirocco 1781cc

The problem is that the distributor has been replaced twice with GFS and Europarts chinese manufactured stuff. This is the last bit of the puzzle that leaves the car with a lack of power between 1000 and 1500 revs, this gives a kangaroo judder. I'm not using any more Chinese bxxtsxxt parts!

VW dealers list two Carbs for the EX engine 026905205J and 026905205AC.

My problem from http://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.de want between £300 and £400

Which Dizzy do i want and can i get one from anywhere else....Bosch are trying to trace the VW part number against their Part numbers...

Is there an easy way to sort this out...... :newbie:

there is a part number on your original dissy, go from there......main agent best source or try advertising on here for 1 in parts wanted,someone may well have 1...also any second hand engine will probably come with 1 and these can be bought for very little.....

agents amd parts dealers know they have you by the sphericals and is why they strap you over an oil drum till theyve had enough....

there are atleast 2 people breaking gt2s in cars breaking...sonnybmx and shavhead.

If you need a new distributor and want the best performance out of your car, then the only way to go is to buy a new Bosch unit from either VW or a local motor factor who deals in Bosch.

Bosch have an onling catalogue that will give you the correct Bosch part number for your car as well as the equivalent VW part number:

Going to a motor factor to buy the Bosch unit will be a lot cheaper than VW.

I had problems with my dizzy earlier this year. As I was bothered about originality I had the original Bosch unit repaired as there was no wear in the shaft. I bought the cheap copy unit from GSF that you mention just to keep the car running whilst the original was being repaired - the difference in performance between that and the Bosch is noticeable, with the car lacking go and some hisitency in the rev range, but for £40 you can't moan.

A new Bosch should set you back about £150ish (£220 from VW).
