Steering suddenly all over the place

Post by jonkennedy »

Yesterday i heard a bang / pop and now my steering is all over the place.
the wheel is also a good 20 degrees out of plonk.

I'm guessing it's a BUSH of some kind
the steering feels very very light compared to how it previously was.

suggestions please

Have you looked underneath to see if anything looks out of place?
Compare both sides and you will probably see what has come adrift.

Do both front wheels move when you turn the steering wheel? If only one moves, then it is likely a track rod or track rod end come loose.

Jack up the front so both wheels are free and get underneath - turn the wheels by hand and watch the various steering components. Should allow you to identify the issue.

At a guess, I'd say it was something to do with the steering rack.
