More powerful starter motor?
I need to get a more powerful starter for my 2.0L 16v conversion the original one doesnt seem to be up to the job. I keep ketting kick back when the starter is cold which is very annoying. Im using an 020 gearbox so are there any other engines which used this gearbox and have more powerful starters. I read somewhere that some people used a starter from a diesel golf which used this gearbox, is this true?

Re: More powerful starter motor?
Doubt you need a stronger starter motor, sounds more like the ring gear on the fly wheel or the cog on the starter is worn. Unless of course you're running crazy high compression or something.

Re: More powerful starter motor?
your cam timing is out causing the valves to close too soon on the compreshion stroke.
If it is not broken, Do not fix it !!!
